three goals

At our core, the youth ministry at New Town church seeks to be raising up lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. There are a lot of different ideas today about what being a disciple means. There are also a lot of pressures in our world that are pushing us to act in certain ways and to belong to certain groups. We believe that God is asking his followers to know who they are and to change the world, rather than letting the world change them.

We believe that in a complicated world, God is asking something of his disciples that is very simple. Love God. Love others. Take the gospel to the world. Our hope is that these commands from Christ would be our heartbeat and our life’s mission as true disciples. Like a rudder on a ship, we hope that these simple ideas will guide us through rough seas - giving us direction and purpose when everything around us may not make sense. Jesus gives us these three commands in his Great Commandment and his Great Commission:

Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:30-31)

Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matt. 28:18-20)
